We started with a collage and then moved to gelli printing over top of the collaged papers. we experimented with stencils, stamps and layering and I provided alice illustrations and quotes printed on tissue that we glued down over top of our monoprinted works. we also explored simple relief printing techniques using styrofoam plates.
At the end of the day it was amazing to see what each person finished with. the colour and material choices were reflections of each student and everyone walked away with a finished project or one that was going to be worked on more intensly.
it's a pretty good gig and a busy one. I have managed to sneak in a little time on future workshop art samples and I'm in idea mode for the fall and the art show I have booked in December. I have two workshops coming up; a stamp making (or relief printing making) workshop. I've had a handful of rwequests for it and we've managed to find a supplier for the tools. I'm excited to teach it and can't wait to post pictures from the workshop.
ALICE MIXED MEDIA workshop. WE'RE GOING TO BE MAKING ALICE THEMED HOUSE FORMS. Using layering, staining and distressing techniques to create to go with the art from the last workshop or to stand on it's own as a charming decor piece.
