it doesn't seem to matter what plans I make in regards to keeping my blog and website updated. My schedule inevitably takes over and blogging time melts away. Which is kind of a good thing because it means I'm busy and have lots of art lessons, projects and ideas on the front burner. The down side is that I can't keep followers updated on what is going on because I've got so much going on.
With all my involvement with MuckAbout Gift Gallery I will be able to add new classes and workshops for adults to my schedule. Now I will have both a place to show off and sell my own work locally but a new venue to expand my student base. I'm bursting with excitement over these new opportunities!
The soft opening for Muckabout is scheduled for the 3rd of November. THe painting is done in the shop and my inventory of hand made, artisan creations is growing in size and ready to make it's debut in its temporary home before it goes to its new forever homes. I can already tell that the bulk of my holiday shopping will be done at the muckabout Gift Gallery. I'm in some excellent company, the growing inventory of consignment art and goods is eclectic, Fun, Beautiful, well made and Gallery worthy; just to list off a few aptly chosen adjectives.
I'm in the midst of finalizing details for these new adult workshops and classes now. On the menu will be a one day workshop creating a holiday countdown calendar, A 5 week mixed media course for adults and I'll also be a part of a weekly drop in session rotation. Once i have finalized lesson plans and links for registration I'll be posting them on the LEssons and Events page.
Actually I've been mucking about for a while now but soon you'll be able to as well. Ninna of the Mucksisters and Muckabout Pottery is expanding into the brick and mortar consignment gift and Gallery. The Muckabout Gift Shop will open soon and I will be one of the vendors there!
This is why I've been MIA here. I've been a busy worker making art, growing my inventory and making plans for an expanded teaching schedule that will include art for adults and one off workshops for fun projects.
all this on top of my regularly scheduled classes and everyday life. I'm very excited to be a part of the Muckabout Gift Shop! I've been helping get things ready there for the last few weeks and the transformation of the space is simpy amazing.
MY ARTSPACE FALL CLAsses begin this morning. I'm pretty pleased with my lessons this term. They will of course vary in topic and technique as the term progresses but the plans I've drawn up are pretty solid.
It's still early in the term and I have good intentions that may very well go sideways as time passes on. One of those intentions is to keep up with documenting my lessons as they happen.
One of my favourite ways of documenting my lsessons is to time lapse record my demos for sharing with my classes. IT saves time in the studio because the gist of the technique is shared quickly and the class time can be spent making art.
BElow you can watch my first time lapse of this term. I'll be teaching this drawing lesson today.
One of the perks of making other art minded friends is the exchange of ideas, information and the ability to share new skills and collaborate. Over the summer I had the
by This time next week I will have started my first classes at Artspace for the new Fall Term. which means school is back in session for everyone at my house. The small humans returning and starting and the big; My partner in life has returned to get his Bachelor's Degree. So much work!
As for me; I've got my lesson plans organized, typed up and supply lists created. the only things left are to get started on sourcing library books for supporting stories and creating sample artworks to demo to those classes. Both are fun jobs and I'm itching to get started.
I'd like to say that I'm super organized and fully prepared and properly supplied when I leave each day with water bottles, enough snacks and right on time every day.
But I'm not.
iFrom the title I bet you can guess that we are awash in some mild anxiety. It's scented with a happy lemon scent so it's not too bad but......... my baby!
We just returned from a whirlwind trip out of province where we visited an enchanted forest, witnessed an historical event on TV, braved mosquitos, cows and horses. Went camping, visited candy stores, shopped for school supplies and clothes, witnessed some tremendous electrical storms and fought in the backseat minimally.
When I say we, I'm referring to my two small humans. They really got along very well during the two day road trip both ways.
I managed to take some really great portraits of my family and was stunned at how tall my teen and young adult nephews have gotten and stopped in at the art supply store to drool over and stock up on some printmaking supplies.
School starts Tuesday for the biggest of my small humans and the day after for the smallest of my small humans. before that happens we have to wind our summer down with a PNE trip. Super Dogs, cotton candy, mini donuts and lots and lots of people.
If you're feeling inquisitive; I've updated the portfolio section in the site. Take a gander, let me know what you think and stay tuned for new updates and posts as we return to our regular (if slightly adjusted) scheduled programming.
