I INFORMALLY ANNOUNCED TO A FEW OF MY LONGTIME STUDENT'S FAMILIES THAT I WILL BE REDUCING ME TEACHING SCHEDULE AT ARTSPACE TO ACCOMODATE THE BIGGEST OF MY SMALL ONE'S THERAPIES AND TO ALLOW SOME TIME FOR ME TO FOCUS ON MY OWN ART MAKING PRACTICE. I'VE BEEN ABLE TO SPEND MORE TIME IN STUDIO in the last six months and I really need to explore my practice a bit. I have a show coming up in December and I want to put some good work into that process. I haven't had work in a show in quite some time and my style and focus has changed a lot.
along with more time in the studio, I will be adding a few more classes to my Muckabout Schedule. This summer I will once again be collaborating with Ninna at Muckabout with children's workshops that combine 2d and 3d creations. I'm also offering some more adult oriented classes here and there at Muckabout and I'm already working on special HAlloween workshops for all ages.
TOday will be my last teaching Saturday at Artspace. it's a little bittersweet. I have a handful of students in both classes who I have taught for years andwatched grow in so many ways. It has been a pleasure to make art with all of them. Most of them will be headed off to kindergarten or grade one in the fall. Sometimes those big transitions mean schedule changes and sometimes art gets sidelined for a while. I look forward to seeing these friends at camps and school workshops.
Tomorrow I get to see both my small humans perform in the Lion King. I will post images next week. The painitn above is one of my long time students. I love how she used colour and texture to create Pride rock. It's going to be used as one of the backdrops in the performance tomorrow.
